Phew! We have had a few interesting weeks of weather, haven’t we? Toasty summers’ days like today, only to be followed by rain and mist. The wind, ever-present and powerful, has had photographers rushing to Kalk Bay to see the waves crash over the wall and has left a salty tang on our tastebuds and greens. It sure makes maintaining the course a little more challenging. Luckily, our Course Manager, Steven Webber, has years of expertise and a great team!

We would like to welcome our new members, Cornelia Budde, Malcolm Conway, Karen Feeley, Duncan Murashiki, Graham and Lynne Pickering, Anil Thakersee, Jack Ryan, Tyron Lloyd, Chad van der Venter, Hendrik Heydorn-Krahn, Lesley Katerinic, and Matthew van der Merwe. Please chat with our lovely Bookings Ladies about our member competitions. There is something for everyone and you will find our members so welcoming.

On the topic of membership, our Golf Manager, Hanko, has been working on our ‘Student’ category and we are looking forward to announcing his amendments soon. Keep an eye out!

Captain’s Day

We are all ready for one of our favorite annual competitions – our Captain’s Day! This competition sees our current Captain and Chairman, Ian McPherson and Stephen Thomas, take on our Vice-Captain and Vice-Chairman, Greg Daly and Jonathan Ackerman. The competition is fierce, as you can imagine, but the day is always one to remember!

Taking place on the afternoon of Saturday, 8th February, your competition fee of R 240 (in addition to your round) will cover your entry into the Betterball Stableford ‘with a twist’ competition, snacks and a complimentary drink after the game, a gin tasting, and Carl’s famous spit braai and salads.

The entry sheets are in the foyer. Please select whether you want to play on our Captain or Vice-Captain’s team. Choose wisely, because there are great prizes to be won!

Welcome, Baby Mia!

Congratulations to our Workshop Assistant, Shaun McClaren, and his lovely fiance’, Amber, on the birth of their little girl, Mia Victoria McClaren! Mia was born at 21.33 on Monday, 20th January weighing 3.59kgs. Isn’t she gorgeous?

We must also congratulate Victor, Shaun’s father-in-law and our Workshop Manager, as Mia is his first grandchild. We’re sure that he is a proud grandfather!

Masters League

This past weekend our Masters League season kicked off, with our first match set against Somerset West. We had a superb start to the season with all four of our teams clinching their games and topping the province log after Round 1!

Well done to Steven Dunn, Trevor Craig, Jon Bernard, Rohan Fraser, Wizz Good, Richard Goveia, James Wight and Craig Small! A brilliant achievement and one that is, hopefully, repeated!

Car Wash

Our Car Wash officially opened today! All washes are to purchased in the Pro Shop, where you will leave your keys for collection.

Remember that our first 50 clients will be entered into a draw to win 5 free car washes! Please ensure that you write your name on the back of your slip and drop it into the box in the Pro Shop to be entered into the draw.

Carl’s Sunday Lunch

Are we being biased when we say that Carl’s roast potatoes are incomparable? You can try them at any of his Sunday lunches and let us know if you have had better. Crispy crunchy on the outside, but soft in the centre – simply the best!

Call Petro or Bibi on 021 782 2100 to make a booking.

In Pictures

Congratulations to Jan Stals van Rooyen, pictured above with Jaco Brink, on winning the Oubaai Junior Open and the Oubaai Bridge Fund Manager’s Junior Series with a score of 75, this past Sunday. Jan is super chuffed with his win, especially considering the challenging conditions he played in! Well done, Jan! We’re all rooting for you.

Although not in his usual environment, our Course Manager, Steven Webber, looks totally at ease in the water! Kite-surfing is Steven’s way to unwind after battling fungal infections on the greens, restricted water supplies and players who don’t repair their pitch marks!

Another top achiever in the Van Rooyen family, Isabella is pictured with June Harrison, holding their winner’s glasses for January’s medal competition. Isabella won the Silver Division with a score of 69 Nett, off a handicap of 1. June won the Bronze Division with a score of 73 Nett, off a handicap of 27.

Bennie Frans, looking happy in his last week as Cart Attendant! Isn’t he great?

Party season has kicked in at the Range! We had a wonderful spit braai there this past Saturday. Please contact if you’re interested in using this venue.
