We have had another wonderful week at Clovelly, and hope that our readers have been able to be part of it! If you were unable to visit us, we hope that you at least enjoyed the fabulous rain on Sunday and Monday, and for all of our overseas readers, we can’t wait until you get here and experience it all with us!

League Update

Our Ladies really showed us how a ‘good week’ is done and it is with great pride that we congratulate our Ladies Silver and Bronze 2 league teams on reaching the playoff stages of their respective divisions. It has been a long season, spread out over ten months, and our Ladies’ hard work has paid off!

The playoffs will see the top eight of each division take part in a knockout format and start next Tuesday,  24th October. Good luck, Ladies! We wish you all of the best and hope that we can add to the silverware in our cupboard. Thanks to Captains, Gill Briggs and Bridget Woodhouse, for your great leadership and to all the players for your dedication and hard work!

Our Men’s Masters and Mid-Am sides will look to emulate this success as they both play their Round 5 matches of the season this coming Saturday against Bellville and King David Mowbray respectively. Both sides must win their remaining matches to secure a spot in the semi-finals. Good Luck! No matter what happens Clovelly is proud of all teams and players representing us!

Ladies’ Spring Open Day

The Ladies went on to host a well-supported and very cheerful Spring Open Golf Day, with a ‘Gangster – Boas and Beads’ theme. Eighty ladies, made up of Clovelly’s own and many visiting golfers, took part in the golf day, and it was awesome to see the huge amounts of effort that the ladies put into their outfits! It always adds to the fun.

A special mention must be made of Mantelli’s, who generously sponsored the Ladies with delicious hampers and goodies, and Lorraine and Tony Webb, of Fine & Country, who are also generous sponsors of the competition. Their support really took the golf day to the next level and we are so grateful!

Thanks also need to go to Althea, our garden manager, whose flowers made for the perfect backdrops against our bright and colourful ladies. The gardens are really lovely at the moment!

Noordhoek Farm Village Golf Day

Clovelly had the pleasure of hosting the Noordhoek Farm Village Golf Day on Friday, 13th! Unlucky Friday, 13th? Not likely, as not only was the golf day a spectacular success, with many interesting faces and weather perfect enough to have prize-giving on the balcony, but both Kevin McKinney (King David Mowbray) and Member, Mike Tiffin, (pictured below left) scored Hole in Ones on the 16th tee within an hour of each other!

Barons Tokai at Clovelly

We would like to extend a warm welcome to Gavin Coulson who has joined the team at Barons Tokai. Gavin is a keen golfer and will be joining us on the fairways every second Wednesday of the month, along with an awesome display vehicle from Barons.

We are also going to introduce some exciting, new competition formats and prizes on this day each month. Watch this space!  Please be sure to contact Gavin on 021 202 1866 or  gavin.coulson@barloworldmotor.com if you have any queries. Barons has an amazing array of vehicles and services to offer.

News from the Pro Shop

Our Pro Shop Pro, Iglin Grobbelaar, would like to challenge you to a putting competition tomorrow. Bring your ‘A’ game and win a voucher to be used in the Pro Shop, which is awesome as they have loads of new stock!

Spotted at Clovelly

Pictured above is Ken, from Lake Security. Ken patrols the Course during the day and is a super addition to the security team, always ready to help with a smile (unless you’re the criminal).

Pictured above is Member, Nico Snyman, caught on his birthday a few weeks ago. Most probably one of our most kind and friendly members!

Pictured above is a mystery lady, who looked so lovely amongst Clovelly’s nature, that our roving photographer just had to steal a snap.

We wish all of our readers a stunning week! Please feel free to email clubhouse@clovelly.co.za any pictures or news that you may have. We love receiving your feedback!
