We are all in the full swing our mid-season, with the course filled with visiting golfers from overseas, local golfers who have supported our recent golf days, our many returned ‘swallows’ and of course, our loyal year-round members. It is so great to see the course and clubhouse thriving again, and we hope that everyone is loving their time spent here!

We have a couple of great events coming up that you can all get involved in before we end our golf day season, and we hope that you can join us! The majority of these upcoming events have been organised to help support various people or organisations, so you can feel good both emotionally and physically when you tee off!

MichellGolf Junior Fundraising Golf Day

Our first event on the horizon is the MichellGolf Junior Fundraising Golf Day. We are hoping that this golf day will draw attention to MichellGolf’s Junior Development Program, and the fantastic talent that we have in our young golfers. The funds raised will be put towards necessary upgrades to the various areas of the junior area at the Range, such as new mats, the purchasing of some much-needed additions to our SNAG equipment for the smaller ones, as well as the uniforms and entry fees for our promising Junior League players.

We have packed this golf day with loads of fun, including a Mashie Competition on the Range for our young golfers and adults that will not take part in the golf day, and fantastic prizes for both! The Cape Town Fish Market will have a sushi tasting after the round and SAB Craft Beer will have a beer and wine tasting to enjoy as well. We will also be handing out little boerewors rolls. If you are unable to join us on this day please do not hesitate to contact our Golf Director, Paul Stoner, for further information on how to get involved.

Junior Pitch n’ Putt Competition

By now we all know what Coach Dave’s popular Pitch n’ Putt Competition is about! Please join us for the last one of the year next Saturday, 25th November.

Blue Sky Golf Day

Together with its top 10 clients in South Africa, RapidLash is supporting the ‘Reach for a Dream’ charity by hosting the Blue Sky Golf Day on 5 December 2017 at Clovelly Country Club.

Reach for a Dream is a non-profit organisation that fulfils the dreams of children between the ages of 3 and 18, who have been diagnosed as having a life-threatening illness. All proceeds will go to the Reach for a Dream Foundation, to help the dreams of 10 children come true.

All Clovelly members are invited to play in the golf day. It is R 600 per player (unfortunately no rounds can be used) to take part, and you receive a goodie bag worth R 800 when checking in! You will also have the opportunity to help give a child a beautiful memory to cherish!

HelloSotheby’s & STBB 9 Hole & Braai

We will be hosting a fun and relaxed nine-hole event on Sunday, 10th December 2017, sponsored by Sotheby’s and STBB. The format for the day will be Betterball Stableford, with separate prizes for the winners on each 9.

The tee times will run from 13h00 to 14h15, with prize giving scheduled for 17h00 sharp. There will be entertainment for the children, drinks and food specials, live music and we will be screening the Blitz Boks in action at the Cape Town 7s! We hope that you can join us!

You can book for any of the above events by emailing bookings@clovelly.co.za or clicking the below button.

Dredging the Dam on the 4th

Returning to the present; we are hoping for some last minute spring rains to come through, but our recent dry spell has provided us with the opportunity to dredge our dam on the 4th hole — the one that we all love to hate when playing a round of golf!

Wednesday’s Competition

On Wednesday, 8th November we held a Combined BetterBall (Best of player A&B added to the best of player C&D) competition, sponsored by Barons Tokai. The winners for the day were Abner Skwambane, Mallory Prinsloo, Sham Young and Peter Motale with an amazing score of 95 points; while the two nearest the pins went to Ron Dunn and Nick Stubbs who each won themselves a lovely bottle of Ernie Els wine.

Going forward, the second Wednesday of every month will offically be sponsored by our friends Barons Tokai, and we look forward to seeing our members having the opportunity to win some great prizes.

If you have any vehicle queries, from purchasing a new vehicle to scheduling a service, please be sure to contact Gavin Coulson at Gavin.Coulson@baronsvw.co.zaThey have some fantastic deals on at the moment!

Please note that the winners must be present to claim their prizes at any sponsored prize-givings. If you are not present the prizes will be kept for the next competition.

The cash prize from the competition fee will still be credited to your account.

Golf Days at Clovelly

This week we were thrilled to host two ocean themed golf days; the Fish Hoek Surf Lifesaving Golf Day and the SA Navy Golf Day.

The Fish Hoek Surf Lifesaving Golf Day had 76 players take part, and everything ran like clockwork! They had many awesome sponsors, including Orka Paddles and Great White Sport and Surf. We really enjoyed their day and hope that they will be back next year!

The SA Navy Day had 108 players take part, and it was all systems go from the moment the first staff members arrived at Clovelly. Sponsors came from all over the country to man their wet holes and showcase their branding. The players teed off the deck and were all given matching shirts. Although absolutely exhausting, this is definitely one of our favourite golf days and we love the buzz!

Well done to the organisers of both golf days, and to over wonderful staff who always make sure that everyone ends ups where they need to be and that the day runs smoothly. In particular, we would like to mention Owen Volschenk, Lynette Meyer and Austin Whittle. You guys can always be counted on to do the real ‘hard work’ and we love having you as part of our team.
